Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?

When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

About malaria and anaemia

Malaria in a two-year-old child is an acute parasitic infection caused by Plasmodium species, most commonly Plasmodium falciparum. The infection is transmitted through the bite of an infected female Anopheles mosquito. Anemia in a two-year-old is a condition characterized by a reduction in haemoglobin concentration or red blood cell mass below the normal range for a particular age grade, resulting in decreased oxygen-carrying capacity of the blood.

Upon physical examination, the child was looking ill, weak and pale. After laboratory tests the child was diagnosed with Severe malaria and anemia. The child immediately admitted for urgent medical care.

Medical history

Halima Musa a one year ten months old baby girl was diagnosed with Severe malaria and anemia. The Child was admitted and treated for days with anti malaria drugs and transfused with a screened blood under close monitoring and observations. Patient tolerated the process well and showed vital signs of recovery and has since been discharged with oral medications.

Prognosis

In a one-year-ten months old child, malaria complicated by anaemia is a serious clinical condition in which the parasitic infection leads to significant destruction of red blood cells. Severe malaria complicated by anemia in a child can rapidly progress to life-threatening complications, including congestive heart failure, severe metabolic acidosis, and profound tissue hypoxia. Additionally, it can trigger cerebral malaria, leading to altered consciousness, recurrent seizures, coma, or permanent neurological damage if not treated immediately. Prompt diagnosis, appropriate antimalarial therapy, correction of fluid and electrolyte abnormalities, close monitoring of hemoglobin levels, nutritional support, and blood transfusion where indicated are essential to achieve recovery and prevent complications. Early intervention generally results in a favorable outcome, whereas delayed treatment is associated with a significantly increased risk of severe complications and death.
