Imam Uddin is a bright and resilient 11-year-old boy who dreams of continuing his education and helping his family build a better future. His father, Ruhul Bepari (40), is the sole earning member of the family and earns only about BDT 7,000 per month as a daily wage laborer, supporting Imam, his mother Salma Begum (34), his elder brother Asif (17), and his young sister Nusrat (2.5 years). Living in a dilapidated tin-and-wood house, the family struggles to afford even basic necessities, making the cost of surgery completely beyond their means. Imam has been suffering from a right inguinal hernia with an undescended testis, causing recurrent groin swelling, pain, and increasing difficulty with daily activities, and his condition has gradually become more serious over time. The family learned about Helpster Charity through a medical outreach program conducted by Anowar Hossain Anu and Meghlal Roy, and sought help when they had nowhere else to turn. Without urgent surgery, Imam could develop severe complications such as bowel obstruction, strangulation of the hernia, permanent damage to the undescended testis, infertility, and other life-threatening conditions that could seriously affect his future health and well-being.

Imam Uddin, an 11-year-old boy, was admitted to AL-AQSA Hospital & Diagnostic Centre on 2 June 2026 with a history of recurrent swelling and severe pain in the right groin for several months. His symptoms became significantly worse during coughing, running, playing, physical exertion, and other strenuous activities. He also had a congenital absence of the right testis from the scrotum (right undescended testis) since birth. Following a comprehensive clinical evaluation, he was diagnosed with a right-sided indirect inguinal hernia associated with a right undescended testis (cryptorchidism). Considering the risk of disease progression and potentially serious complications, he successfully underwent Open Right Orchidopexy with Right Inguinal Herniorrhaphy using Prolene Mesh on 2 June 2026. This timely surgical intervention played a vital role in preventing future potentially life-threatening complications, including hernia incarceration, strangulation, and long-term complications associated with an undescended testis. During his hospitalization, Imam Uddin remained under close medical observation for three days, receiving comprehensive postoperative care, including pain management, medications, wound care, and regular clinical monitoring. His recovery was satisfactory, with steady improvement in his overall physical condition and appropriate healing of the surgical wound. As his condition remained stable, he was discharged from the hospital in good health on 4 June 2026. With continued follow-up and adherence to postoperative medical advice, he is expected to make a full recovery and return to his normal daily activities. According to the treating physician, Imam Uddin's right undescended testis with right inguinal hernia requires urgent orchidopexy with hernia repair to place the testis in its normal position and correct the hernia. With timely surgery, the pain, swelling, and discomfort are expected to resolve, allowing him to return to normal daily activities and reducing the risk of future complications. Early treatment will also help preserve the function of the affected testis and improve his long-term reproductive health. However, if left untreated, the hernia may become trapped or strangulated, causing intestinal obstruction, severe pain, and a life-threatening emergency.
