Md. Atiqur Rahman is a cheerful and hardworking 9-year-old boy who studies in Class Two and dreams of continuing his education despite the challenges of poverty. His father, Abul Hossain (35), works as a day laborer with a handcart, while his mother, Mala Begum (30), works in a garment factory; together they earn only about BDT 12,000 per month to support Atiqur, his 4-year-old brother Hafizur, and the entire family, making the cost of emergency surgery impossible to afford. After a tragic road traffic accident, Atiqur suffered a displaced fracture of the right femur, causing severe pain, swelling, and an inability to stand or walk, leaving him at risk of permanent disability. The family learned about Helpster Charity through a community outreach initiative conducted by Anowar Hossain Anu and Meghlal Roy, which gave them hope during this difficult time. Without urgent surgical treatment, the broken bone may heal improperly, leading to deformity, unequal leg length, chronic pain, difficulty walking, and lifelong mobility problems

Md. Atiqur Rahman was admitted to Al-Aqsa Hospital & Diagnostic Centre on 08 June 2026 following a road traffic accident (RTA). He presented with severe pain and marked tenderness in his right thigh after sustaining a traumatic injury. Following a detailed clinical assessment and radiological investigations, he was diagnosed with a Closed Displaced Fracture shaft of the Right Femur. Considering the severity of the injury and the potential risk of serious complications, he successfully underwent Open Reduction and Internal Fixation (ORIF) on 15 June 2026. During the procedure, the fractured femur was anatomically reduced and stabilized using a Narrow Dynamic Compression Plate (Narrow DCP). This surgical intervention restored proper bone alignment and stability, significantly reducing the risk of future limb-threatening and life-threatening complications while promoting optimal fracture healing. During his hospital stay, the patient received 11 days of comprehensive inpatient care, including close medical observation, postoperative management, pain control, medications, wound care with regular dressing changes, physiotherapy guidance, and continuous clinical monitoring. His condition improved steadily throughout the course of treatment, and the surgical wound demonstrated satisfactory healing without significant complications. On 18 June 2026, he was discharged from the hospital in a stable and improved clinical condition. With adherence to the prescribed medications, rehabilitation program, and scheduled follow-up visits, he is expected to achieve complete recovery and return to his normal daily activities. The recommended treatment is Open Reduction and Internal Fixation (ORIF) with Narrow DCP, a surgical procedure to properly align and stabilize the fractured right femur using a metal plate, followed by monitoring, rehabilitation, and follow-up care. According to the treating physician, timely surgery is essential to ensure proper healing of Md. Atiqur Rahman's fractured thigh bone and to restore normal movement of the affected leg. With successful treatment, the pain and swelling will gradually improve, allowing him to stand, walk, and participate in daily activities normally again. The operation will also reduce the risk of permanent deformity and help preserve normal growth and function of the leg. However, if left untreated, the fracture may heal in an abnormal position, leading to severe deformity, persistent pain, difficulty walking, unequal leg length, and long-term disability.
