When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Traverse Lie. A transverse lie is an abnormal fetal position in which the fetus lies horizontally across the mother's uterus, with its long axis perpendicular to the long axis of the mother's body. In this position, neither the head nor the buttocks occupies the maternal pelvis. Instead, the fetal shoulder, arm, back, or trunk may present first at the pelvic inlet. A transverse lie is incompatible with normal vaginal delivery if it persists into labor and requires prompt obstetric assessment and management.

Background
Happiness Ejike is a cheerful, easygoing 27-year-old who loves cooking and singing. She lives with her husband in a one-room apartment in New Nyanya, where he works with a private security company earning 35,000 naira a month. Having completed only secondary school, Happiness holds on to a big dream of becoming a successful businesswoman. When her labour came, it dragged on painfully, and she was rushed to the emergency ward with severe lower abdominal pain. A scan revealed the baby was lying in a transverse position, making normal delivery impossible. She was taken straight to theatre for an emergency Caesarean section, and to God's glory, a bouncing baby boy was safely delivered. Mother and baby have since been discharged and are doing well.
Medical history
Happiness Ejike 27-year-old was rushed into the emergency medical ward with lower segment abdominal pain. Upon diagnostics, she was diagnosed with traverse lie. Due to the risk involved, she was immediately booked for an emergency Cesarean Section under general anesthesia. The procedure was successful. She was placed under antibiotics suxh I.V Ceftriaxone and analgesic such as I.V pentazocine during postoperative monitoring. She tolerated it well and is recovering well. She has since been discharged with oral medications such tabs: amoxilclav, Vitamin C, diclofenac, ferrous sulphate etc.
Prognosis
Happiness Ejike a 27 year old pregnant woman in labor who was rushed into our facility. Upon diagnosis she was diagnosed with traverse lie. Progressed labor with persistent transverse lie makes vaginal delivery impossible. Without the Caesarean section, prolonged obstructed labour would lead to uterine rupture, severe hemorrhage, sepsis, and likely death for Happiness, while the baby would face cord prolapse, oxygen deprivation, and almost certain stillbirth. The emergency surgery saved both their lives. Prognosis is however good with prompt and immediate Caesarean Section to deliver the baby.
