Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?

When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background

Mostazid Billah is a cheerful and innocent 6-month-old baby boy who lives with his parents and his 3-year-old brother, Mostakim Billah, in a family of four, bringing hope to his family despite their difficult circumstances. His father is the family's only earning member, working as a day laborer with a monthly income of approximately BDT 6,000, which is barely enough to provide food and other basic necessities, leaving the family unable to afford the cost of hospitalization, medicines, oxygen support, and ongoing treatment. After learning about Helpster Charity through the medical staff, the family sought assistance in the hope of saving Mostazid's life. Despite exhausting their limited resources, they cannot continue his treatment without financial support. Without timely treatment, acute bronchiolitis may rapidly progress to severe respiratory failure, prolonged oxygen deprivation, secondary bacterial infection, cardiac arrest, and other life-threatening complications that could result in permanent disability or even death.

Medical history

Mostazid Billah was admitted to the hospital on 26/06/2026 with acute bronchiolitis. During his hospitalization, he received appropriate medical management, including medications, supportive treatment, and close monitoring by the healthcare team. With timely treatment and dedicated nursing care, his breathing gradually improved, his symptoms resolved, and his overall condition became stable. As he made a successful recovery and was considered safe for discharge, he was discharged from the hospital in good condition on 02/07/2026.

Prognosis

The doctor has recommended immediate hospital admission for Mostazid Billah so that he can receive appropriate antibiotics, medications, oxygen therapy if needed, and other supportive care. With timely treatment, his breathing is expected to improve, his strength will gradually return, and he has a strong chance of making a full recovery. Early medical intervention will also help prevent further complications and promote healthy recovery. However, if left untreated, acute bronchiolitis can lead to serious complications, including acute respiratory failure, atelectasis, hypoxia, secondary bacterial infections, bronchiolitis obliterans, and recurrent wheezing. Without urgent medical care, these complications could become life-threatening for such a young child.
