Rafi Hasan is an 18-month-old cheerful and innocent boy from a poor family in Bangladesh. His father, Najmul Hok (30), works as a day laborer earning only around BDT 5,000 per month, while his mother, Sukriya Jannat (22), is a homemaker who cares for him in their small tin-roofed house with a mud floor. When Rafi developed a high fever, persistent cough, vomiting, and severe diarrhea, his condition quickly worsened, but his parents were unable to afford the cost of hospital treatment because their limited income was barely enough to provide food for the family. He has been diagnosed with acute gastroenteritis (AGE) with pneumonia, a serious condition that can rapidly lead to severe dehydration, breathing complications, and even become life-threatening if left untreated. The family was introduced to Helpster Charity through Helpster Volunteer Tanjila Shahin Ema, whose support gave Rafi the opportunity to receive the lifesaving medical care that his parents could never have afforded on their own.

Rafi Ahmed was admitted to Seba Hospital on 26 June 2026 at 10:00 AM with diarrhea, vomiting, cough, high fever, and pneumonia. He remained under close medical observation and received treatment with medicines, fluids, and supportive care from the doctors and nurses. His condition gradually improved during his hospital stay, and he was discharged on 2 July 2026 at 7:00 PM with medical advice for continued recovery at home. At the time of discharge, the patient's family expressed their sincere gratitude to Helpster Volunteer Tanjila Ema and the Seba Hospital team for their dedicated care and support.

According to the treating physician, Rafi Ahmed requires immediate hospitalization with proper hydration, antibiotic therapy, nebulization, oxygen therapy if needed, and continuous supportive care under close medical monitoring. With timely and appropriate treatment, the infection is expected to resolve, his breathing will improve, dehydration will be corrected, and he is likely to make a full recovery. However, if left untreated, acute gastroenteritis can lead to severe dehydration and electrolyte imbalance, while pneumonia may progress to respiratory failure, bloodstream infection (sepsis), or other life-threatening complications.
