Naima Akter has been diagnosed with acute gastroenteritis (AGE) with cystitis, a condition involving an infection of the digestive system along with an infection of the urinary tract. She is experiencing severe abdominal pain, vomiting, diarrhea, and fever, which have caused significant discomfort and weakness. These symptoms can lead to dehydration and worsening infection if not treated promptly.

Background
Naima Akter is a bright and determined 12-year-old girl who studies in Class 7 and dreams of continuing her education despite her family's financial hardships. Her father, Abdul Mojid (45), earns only about BDT 5,000 per month as a farmer, while her mother, Lebu Begum (40), is a housewife, and her elder sister, Masuma Begum (15), is a Class 9 student. When Naima developed severe abdominal pain, repeated vomiting, diarrhea, and fever, her condition rapidly worsened, but her family could not afford the cost of hospital treatment because their limited income is barely enough to meet basic household needs. The family learned about Helpster Charity through Helpster Volunteer Tanjila Shahin Ema, who guided them in seeking support for Naima's treatment. Without timely medical care, her illness could have led to severe dehydration, worsening infection, extreme weakness, and other life-threatening complications, putting both her health and education at serious risk.
Medical history
Naima Akter was admitted to Seba Hospital on 29 June 2026 with acute gastroenteritis (AGE) and gastritis, after experiencing diarrhea, vomiting, stomach pain, and weakness. She received treatment under the care of the hospital team for several days and was kept under close observation. During her hospitalization, she was provided with medicines, fluids, and supportive care by the doctors and nurses. Her condition gradually improved with treatment, and she was discharged on 5 July 2026 with medical advice. At the time of discharge, the patient's family expressed their sincere gratitude to Helpster Charity and the Seba Hospital team for their support and care.
Prognosis
According to the treating physician, Naima Akter required hospitalization because acute gastroenteritis with cystitis was causing severe abdominal pain, vomiting, diarrhea, fever, and increasing weakness. With timely treatment, medications, fluids, and close monitoring, her infection is expected to improve, her symptoms will resolve, and she can return to her normal studies and daily activities. Early medical care will also help prevent dehydration and other complications, allowing her to make a full recovery. However, if left untreated, the illness could lead to severe dehydration, worsening infection, extreme weakness, kidney-related complications, and other potentially life-threatening conditions.
