Khuki Akter is a determined 16-year-old girl who hopes to resume her education after having to leave school because of her family's financial hardship. She lives with her parents, her elder sister, and younger brother in a family of five, where her father is the only earning member, working as a driver with a monthly income of approximately BDT 6,000, which is barely enough to cover food and other basic necessities, leaving the family unable to afford the cost of hospitalization, investigations, and medicines. After learning about Helpster Charity through a staff member of Life Care Hospital, the family sought assistance in the hope of accessing the urgent treatment Khuki requires. Despite exhausting their limited resources, they cannot continue her treatment without financial support. Without timely treatment, typhoid fever and the urinary tract infection can lead to severe dehydration, bloodstream infection (sepsis), kidney complications, intestinal bleeding or perforation, multi-organ complications, and other life-threatening conditions that could seriously endanger Khuki's life.

Khuki Akter was admitted to the hospital on 07 May 2026 after suffering from persistent fever for ten days, along with abdominal pain, cough, and pain in her hands and legs. Following a thorough medical examination and necessary diagnostic tests, doctors diagnosed her with typhoid fever and a urinary tract infection (UTI). She received appropriate medical treatment, including antibiotics, supportive medications, intravenous fluids, and close monitoring by the hospital's medical team. With timely treatment and continuous care, Khuki's condition gradually improved over the following days. Her fever subsided, her abdominal pain and body aches decreased, and her overall strength and appetite began to return. She responded well to the prescribed medications and was discharged from the hospital on 11 May 2026 in stable condition, with advice to complete her medications and attend follow-up care. Khuki and her family express their heartfelt gratitude to Helpster, its volunteers, and the hospital staff for their generous support and compassionate care, which played a vital role in her recovery.

With timely administration of appropriate antibiotics and supportive treatment, Khuki’s typhoid fever and urinary tract infection can be effectively controlled, leading to a gradual reduction in fever, relief from abdominal pain, and improvement in her overall condition. Proper medical care will help restore her strength, improve her appetite, and enable her to resume her normal daily activities. With close monitoring, adequate hydration, and completion of the prescribed course of medications, the chances of a full recovery are very high. However, if left untreated, typhoid fever can progress to severe dehydration, prolonged illness, intestinal complications, or the spread of infection throughout the body. Similarly, an untreated urinary tract infection may spread to the kidneys, causing more serious complications and potentially permanent kidney damage. Prompt and appropriate treatment is therefore essential to prevent these complications and ensure Khuki’s complete recovery.
