Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?

When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background

Rihan Biswas is a cheerful 3-month-old baby boy from a financially struggling family. His father, Rimon Biswas (30), works as a day labourer and earns only about 6,000 BDT per month, which must support Rihan, his mother Sujona Biswas (25), and his two sisters, Ridisha Biswas (10) and Trisha Biswas (5). When Rihan developed a cold, cough, fever, and severe breathing difficulties, his condition quickly became critical, but the family could not afford the cost of hospitalization and treatment because their limited income is barely enough to cover basic household expenses. The family learned about Helpster Charity through Helpster Volunteers Tanjila Shahin Ema and Redwan, who guided them in seeking support for Rihan's care. Without timely treatment, severe pneumonia could have led to serious breathing problems, severe infection, and life-threatening complications, putting the life of this young infant at grave risk.

Medical history

Rehan Biswas was admitted to Seba Hospital on 1 July 2026 with severe pneumonia after suffering from cold, cough, fever, and difficulty breathing. He received treatment under the care of the hospital team for several days and was kept under close observation. During his hospitalization, he was provided with medicines, oxygen support, and supportive care by the doctors and nurses. His condition gradually improved with treatment, and he was discharged on 8 July 2026 with medical advice. At the time of discharge, the patient's family expressed their sincere gratitude to Helpster Charity and the Seba Hospital team for their support and care.

Prognosis

According to the treating physician, Rehan Biswas required hospitalization because severe pneumonia was causing fever, cough, and significant breathing difficulties at a very young age. With timely treatment, medications, supportive care, and close monitoring, the infection is expected to clear, his breathing will improve, and he can continue to grow and develop normally. Early medical intervention will also help prevent the infection from becoming more severe and reduce the risk of long-term health problems. However, if left untreated, severe pneumonia can rapidly worsen, leading to severe breathing problems, poor feeding, serious infection, and other life-threatening complications
