Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?

When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

About emergency care

Sowan Arian has been diagnosed with late preterm birth (36 weeks), low birth weight (LBW), and perinatal hypoxia (HIE-I). Late preterm birth and low birth weight make newborns more vulnerable to breathing difficulties, infections, feeding problems, and poor temperature regulation, while perinatal hypoxia (HIE-I) indicates that the baby experienced a reduced oxygen supply to the brain around the time of birth. These conditions require urgent medical attention because they increase the risk of seizures, bloodstream infection (sepsis), brain injury, developmental delays, and other life-threatening complications if left untreated.

Background

Sowan Arian is a precious 1-day-old newborn who lives with his parents and grandparents in a family of five, bringing hope to his family despite being born with serious medical complications. His father is the family's only earning member, working as a misuk driver with a monthly income of approximately BDT 8,000, which is barely enough to cover food and other basic necessities, leaving the family unable to afford the cost of neonatal hospitalization, medicines, investigations, and specialized supportive care. After learning about Helpster Charity through volunteer Masud Rana, the family sought assistance in the hope of giving Sowan a healthy start to life. Despite exhausting their limited resources, they cannot continue his treatment without financial support. Without timely neonatal care, perinatal hypoxia in a late preterm, low birth weight baby can lead to severe brain injury, seizures, bloodstream infection (sepsis), permanent developmental disabilities, multi-organ complications, or even death.

Medical history

Sowan Arian was admitted to Narayanganj Poly Clinic General Hospital on 23-06-2026 and received conservative treatment, including close monitoring and supportive neonatal care for Late Preterm, Low Birth Weight (LBW), and Perinatal Hypoxia (HIE-I). During hospitalization, the baby's condition gradually improved with appropriate medical management. He was successfully discharged on 27-06-2026 in stable condition with advice for regular follow-up and continued care at home.

Prognosis

The recommended treatment is hospitalization with conservative neonatal management, supportive care, oxygen therapy if required, intravenous fluids, antibiotics when indicated, and close monitoring to stabilize Sowan's condition and prevent further complications. With timely treatment, careful monitoring, and appropriate neonatal care, he is expected to recover well, maintain normal breathing and feeding, and achieve healthy growth and development. If left untreated, perinatal hypoxia in a late preterm, low birth weight newborn can lead to severe brain injury, seizures, developmental delay, bloodstream infection (sepsis), multi-organ failure, permanent neurological disability, or even death. Early intervention is essential to improve his long-term health and survival.
