Ar Raiyan, an 8-month-old baby, has been diagnosed with severe pneumonia, a serious lung infection that causes inflammation of the air sacs and makes it difficult for the lungs to supply enough oxygen to the body. In infants, severe pneumonia can rapidly lead to breathing difficulties, low oxygen levels, poor feeding, dehydration, and extreme weakness, making it a life-threatening condition

Background
Ar Raiyan is a cheerful and innocent 8-month-old baby who lives with his parents and his 4-year-old brother, Abdullah Al, in a family of four. His father is the family's only earning member, working as a day labourer with a monthly income of approximately BDT 7,000, which is barely enough to provide food and other basic necessities, leaving the family unable to afford the cost of hospitalization, medicines, oxygen therapy, and emergency treatment. After learning about Helpster Charity through volunteer Masud Rana, the family sought assistance in the hope of saving Raiyan's life. Despite exhausting their limited resources, they cannot continue his treatment without financial support. Without timely medical care, severe pneumonia can rapidly progress to respiratory failure, bloodstream infection (septicemia), permanent lung damage, multi-organ complications, and even death, putting Raiyan's life at immediate risk.
Medical history
Ar Raiyan was admitted to Narayanganj Poly Clinic General Hospital on 25/06/2026 with severe pneumonia. During his hospital stay, he received conservative treatment, including oxygen therapy, intravenous medications, antibiotics, nebulization, and supportive care under close medical observation. His condition gradually improved with treatment, and he was discharged in stable condition on 01/07/2026 with advice to continue prescribed medications and attend regular follow-up visits.
Prognosis
The recommended treatment is hospitalization, antibiotic therapy, nebulization, oxygen support if required, and other supportive therapy to control the severe lung infection, improve breathing, restore adequate oxygen levels, and prevent further complications. With timely treatment, close medical monitoring, proper hydration, nutritional support, and completion of the prescribed medications, Ar Raiyan is expected to recover fully, regain normal lung function, and continue healthy growth and development. If left untreated, severe pneumonia can rapidly progress to respiratory failure, severe oxygen deficiency, bloodstream infection (septicemia), shock, permanent lung damage, multi-organ failure, and even death. Early and appropriate medical care is essential to save his life and ensure a safe recovery.
