Mst. Mostakima Akter is a 38-week pregnant woman, gravida 2, para 1, who presented with severe oligohydramnios, a condition in which the amniotic fluid surrounding the baby is below the normal level. This can restrict fetal movement and reduce the baby's oxygen supply. Due to this complication, the fetus developed fetal distress, indicating signs of inadequate oxygenation and compromised well-being, requiring immediate medical intervention to ensure the safety of both the mother and the baby.

Background
Mst. Mostakima Akter is a polite and resilient 22-year-old expectant mother who lives with her husband, their 3-year-old son Muhtasim Billah, and her elderly parents-in-law in a family of five, doing her best to care for everyone despite their difficult circumstances. Her husband is the family's only earning member, working as a van driver with a monthly income of approximately BDT 6,000, which is barely enough to provide food and other basic necessities, leaving the family unable to afford the cost of hospitalization, medicines, investigations, and delivery-related care. After learning about Helpster Charity through a leaflet, the family sought assistance in the hope of ensuring a safe delivery for Mostakima and her unborn baby. Despite exhausting their limited resources, they cannot continue her treatment without financial support. Without timely medical care, pregnancy-related complications could rapidly become life-threatening, leading to severe maternal bleeding, obstructed labour, fetal distress, stillbirth, or other serious complications that could endanger both the mother and her baby.
Medical history
Mst. Mostakima Akter was admitted to the hospital on 05.07.2026 at 38 weeks of pregnancy with severe oligohydramnios. After a thorough evaluation, she underwent a successful Lower Uterine Cesarean Section (LUCS) on the same day, performed by gynecologist Dr. Nahid Akter and anesthetist Dr. Anik. The surgery was successful, and both the mother and her baby remained safe. Following the operation, she received appropriate medical treatment, continuous monitoring, and attentive nursing care, which helped ensure a smooth recovery. As her condition improved steadily, she was discharged in a stable and secure condition on 08.07.2026.
Prognosis
The recommended treatment for her is a Lower Uterine Cesarean Section (LUCS) under Spinal Anesthesia Block (SAB), as it is the safest option to deliver the baby immediately and prevent further complications. With timely surgery, both the mother and the baby are expected to recover well, and the baby is expected to grow and lead a healthy life. However, if the delivery is delayed or left untreated, the baby may suffer from oxygen deprivation, which can lead to permanent brain damage or even death. The mother may also face life-threatening complications, including severe infection.
