Malaria is a life-threatening, mosquito-borne parasitic disease caused by Plasmodium parasites and transmitted by infected female Anopheles mosquitoes. Symptoms typically include high fever, chills, and headaches. It is both preventable and curable. Gastroenteritis is an inflammation of the stomach and intestines, often called the "stomach flu." It typically causes sudden nausea, vomiting, watery diarrhea, and abdominal cramps. It is usually spread through contaminated food/water or direct contact with an infected person

Background
Justus is a 14-year-old boy from Bonde Village near a mining area. He was orphaned at the age of 10 after losing both parents and now lives with his step-grandmother, who cares for him and his brother despite limited resources. Justus is a calm, humble, and hardworking student who enjoys playing football and singing in church. He is determined to excel in school and dreams of becoming a doctor so that he can help others in his community. Three days before admission, Justus began feeling unwell but continued attending school despite his illness. One evening after returning home, he developed repeated vomiting and diarrhoea. His grandmother initially gave him locally prepared herbal medicine, hoping he would improve, but his condition continued to worsen. Concerned about his deteriorating health, she took him to the hospital, where he underwent clinical assessment and laboratory investigations. Treatment was started immediately, and he has responded well, with his condition steadily improving under medical care.
Medical history
AFTER JUSTUS BEING ADMITTED FOR THREE DAYS, HE HAS BEEN DISCHARGED FROM HOSPITAL HE HAS IMPROVED HE CAN HELP HIS GRAND MOTHER WITH HOUSEHOLD CHORES AFTER SCHOOL, LIKE COLLECTING FIREWOOD ALSO GOING TO THE STREAM TO FETCH WATER.HE HAS FULLY RECOVERED.
Prognosis
Justus had malaria complicated by acute gastroenteritis, resulting in fever, vomiting, diarrhea, dehydration, and general weakness. Prompt diagnosis and treatment with antimalarial medication, rehydration, and supportive care were essential to prevent complications such as severe dehydration, electrolyte imbalance, kidney injury, or progression to severe malaria. His prognosis is good because treatment was initiated early and he has responded well. With completion of medication, adequate nutrition and fluids, and follow-up care, he is expected to make a full recovery.
