About pregnancy
Monira Khatun, an 18-year-old woman who is 38 weeks pregnant, has been diagnosed with a breech presentation. A breech presentation means the baby is positioned feet or buttocks first instead of the normal head-down position, increasing the risk of complications during labor and making a normal vaginal delivery unsafe. To ensure the safety of both mother and baby, a cesarean section (C-section) is required.

Background
Monira Khatun is a resilient 18-year-old woman who lives with her husband, elderly parents-in-law, her husband's unemployed elder brother, and sister-in-law in a family of six. Her husband is the family's only earning member, working as a construction laborer with a monthly income of approximately BDT 8,000, which is barely enough to cover food and other basic necessities, leaving the family unable to afford the cost of hospitalization, surgery, medicines, and delivery-related treatment. After learning about Helpster Charity through a staff member of Life Care Hospital, the family sought assistance in the hope of accessing the urgent medical care Monira requires. Despite exhausting their limited resources, they cannot continue her treatment without financial support. Without timely treatment, a breech pregnancy can lead to obstructed labor, fetal distress, umbilical cord prolapse, birth injury, severe bleeding, stillbirth, and other life-threatening complications that could endanger both the mother and her baby.
Medical history
Monira Khatun was admitted to the hospital on 17/05/2026 at 38 weeks of pregnancy after doctors diagnosed her with a breech presentation, making a normal vaginal delivery unsafe. Considering the risks associated with this condition, doctors performed a planned Lower Uterine Caesarean Section (LUCS), and the surgery was successfully completed, resulting in the safe birth of her baby. Following the operation, Monira Khatun received appropriate medical care, medications, and postnatal support. Both mother and baby recovered well and remained in stable condition throughout their hospital stay. She was discharged on 20/05/2026 in good health. Monira Khatun and her family expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Helpster Charity, its volunteers, and the medical team at Life Care Hospital for their generous support and timely assistance in ensuring a safe delivery and the well-being of both mother and child.
Prognosis
Doctors have recommended a Lower Uterine Caesarean Section (LUCS) to safely deliver Monira Khatun’s baby due to the breech presentation. With timely surgery and appropriate medical care, a safe delivery is expected, allowing Monira to recover and care for her newborn. The procedure will reduce the risk of complications during labor and ensure a safer outcome for both mother and baby. Without timely surgical intervention, there is a significant risk of obstructed labor, fetal distress, birth injuries, and other life-threatening complications.
