Md. Saiful Islam, a 4-year-old child, has been diagnosed with a Left-Sided Reducible Incomplete Inguinal Hernia with Phimosis. A left-sided inguinal hernia occurs when a portion of abdominal tissue protrudes through a weak area in the groin, causing swelling and discomfort. Phimosis is a condition in which the foreskin is too tight to be pulled back properly, which can lead to pain, difficulty passing urine, and recurrent infections. If left untreated, these conditions may result in serious complications such as intestinal obstruction, strangulated hernia, urinary problems, and severe infections

Background
Md. Saiful Islam is a cheerful and affectionate 4-year-old Forcibly Displaced Myanmar National (FDMN) child who is the only son of his parents and is deeply loved by his grandparents, uncles, aunts, and other family members. His father works as a daily wage laborer, but irregular employment and low earnings make it extremely difficult to provide for the family's basic needs, leaving them unable to afford the cost of surgery and medical treatment. Despite his young age, Saiful dreams of becoming an Islamic scholar and enjoys attending Maktab with his friends, but his inguinal hernia and phimosis have caused ongoing pain and discomfort that interfere with his childhood activities. The family learned about Helpster Charity through volunteer Tamjid Md. Muktadir, who gave them hope when they had no other means of accessing treatment. Without timely surgery, the hernia could become trapped and cut off blood supply to the intestines, while untreated phimosis could lead to severe urinary problems, infections, and other serious complications, placing this beloved child's health and future at significant risk.
Medical history
Mohammed Saiful Islam, a 4-year-old child, was admitted to Orion Hospital on 10 July 2026 through Helpster volunteer Md. Younus with recurrent groin swelling, pain, and difficulty urinating. After clinical evaluation, he was diagnosed with Left-Sided Reducible Incomplete Inguinal Hernia with Phimosis and successfully underwent left inguinal herniotomy with circumcision. Following postoperative care and monitoring, he recovered well and was discharged in stable condition on 15 July 2026 with medications and follow-up advice. The treatment costs were fully covered by Helpster Charity, and the family sincerely thanks Helpster, its volunteers, and the hospital team for their valuable support and care.
Prognosis
Doctors have advised surgical correction through left inguinal herniotomy and circumcision to treat the child's condition and prevent future complications. With timely surgery, appropriate postoperative care, pain management, and regular follow-up, the prognosis is excellent, and he is expected to make a full recovery and resume normal childhood activities without discomfort. However, if left untreated, the hernia may become incarcerated or strangulated, leading to intestinal obstruction, compromised blood supply, severe infection, and other life-threatening complications, potentially resulting in severe morbidity or even death.
