When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Riya Moni has been diagnosed with Severe Pneumonia, a serious infection that causes inflammation of the lungs and makes breathing difficult. She is experiencing high fever, cough, rapid breathing, chest indrawing, weakness, and poor food and fluid intake, indicating significant respiratory illness. At her young age, the infection can worsen rapidly and reduce the oxygen supply to her body. Without timely hospital treatment, severe pneumonia may lead to respiratory failure, sepsis, organ damage, and potentially life-threatening complications.

Background
Riya Moni is a deeply cherished 1-year-old Rohingya girl and the only child of her parents, who dream of seeing her grow up healthy and have a better future. Her father is the family’s only earning member, but as an irregular day laborer he often returns home without finding work, leaving the family largely dependent on World Food Programme (WFP) food assistance and unable to afford Riya’s hospital treatment. After learning about Helpster Charity through the medical outreach at Kutupalong, her parents sought urgent support when severe pneumonia caused worsening fever, cough, rapid breathing, and poor food intake. Without timely treatment, the infection may cause dangerously low oxygen levels, respiratory failure, sepsis, and damage to vital organs. These complications can become life-threatening, making immediate medical support essential to protect their only child’s life.
Medical history
Riya Moni, a 1-year-old girl, was admitted to Orion Hospital on 26.06.2026 through Helpster volunteer Tamjid Md. Muktadir with severe pneumonia causing fever, cough, and breathing difficulty. She received close monitoring, respiratory treatment, nutritional support, and other supportive care. After five days of treatment, she improved significantly and was discharged in stable condition on 01.07.2026 with medications and follow-up advice. Her family sincerely thanks Helpster Charity, its volunteers, and the Orion Hospital medical team for their generous support and compassionate care.
Prognosis
According to the doctor, hospitalization with antibiotic therapy, nebulization, and other supportive treatment is essential to control Riya’s severe lung infection and improve her breathing. With timely treatment and close monitoring, her fever and cough are expected to improve, breathing should become easier, and she can gradually regain normal feeding, strength, and activity. If left untreated, severe pneumonia may rapidly worsen, causing dangerously low oxygen levels, respiratory failure, sepsis, and damage to vital organs. These complications can become life-threatening, making prompt hospital treatment essential for her recovery.
