Mrs. Lovely Akter is a 28-year-old mother who lives with her husband, Mohammad Alauddin, and their 14-year-old daughter, Taiyeba Akter, in a fragile wood-and-tin house. Her husband is the family’s only earning member and makes approximately BDT 6,000 per month as a daily wage labourer, which is barely enough for basic necessities and leaves them unable to afford emergency maternity care. When Lovely developed severe abdominal pain and vaginal bleeding at 38+ weeks of pregnancy, doctors diagnosed Placenta Previa with a previous Caesarean section, making the pregnancy high-risk and requiring urgent specialist care. Without timely treatment and a safely planned delivery, she could suffer massive bleeding, severe anemia, shock, or other life-threatening complications, while her unborn baby could develop severe distress, oxygen deprivation, or even die. Lovely Akter, a 28-year-old woman, was admitted to Al-Aqsa Hospital & Diagnostic Centre on 04 June 2026 at 37+ weeks of pregnancy with complaints of severe lower abdominal pain and per vaginal bleeding. Following comprehensive clinical evaluation, physical examination, and the necessary investigations, she was diagnosed as Para-1, Gravida-2, Previous One Caesarean Section (C/S), 37+ Weeks Pregnancy with Placenta Previa. Considering the significant risk to both the mother and the unborn baby, including the possibility of massive haemorrhage and other life-threatening complications, an emergency Lower Uterine Caesarean Section (LUCS) was successfully performed on 04 June 2026. The timely surgical intervention played a vital role in preventing potentially fatal complications and ensuring the safety of both the mother and her newborn. During her hospital stay. Lovely Akter remained under close observation for four days. She received comprehensive post-operative care, including essential medications, regular wound care, pain management, infection prevention, and other supportive medical treatment. With continuous medical supervision and appropriate care, her clinical condition improved steadily, and her surgical wound healed satisfactorily. On 07 June 2026, she was discharged from the hospital in a stable and improved condition. With adherence to the prescribed medications, follow-up appointments, and medical advice, she is expected to make a full recovery and return to her normal family and daily life. According to the doctor, immediate Lower Uterine Caesarean Section (LUCS), with blood transfusion if required, is essential to ensure a safe delivery and protect both Lovely and her baby. With timely surgery and proper management of blood loss, the baby can be delivered safely while reducing the risk of severe maternal complications. If left untreated, placenta previa may cause sudden and massive vaginal bleeding, leading to severe anemia, shock, organ failure, and potentially maternal death. The baby may also develop fetal distress, oxygen deprivation, premature complications, or even die. Therefore, timely Caesarean delivery is potentially life-saving for both mother and baby.
