Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?
When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

About emergency care
The newborn has been diagnosed with perinatal asphyxia with hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE-II), meconium aspiration syndrome (MAS), early-onset neonatal sepsis (EONS), congenital heart disease (CHD), and possible duodenal atresia. Perinatal asphyxia with HIE-II indicates brain injury related to inadequate oxygen around birth, with seizures occurring after delivery. Meconium aspiration can cause respiratory problems, while EONS is a serious infection occurring early in life; CHD indicates a structural abnormality of the heart, and possible duodenal atresia may cause intestinal obstruction.

Background
Baby of Fatema Akter is a 10-day-old newborn boy whose difficult start to life has placed his family under severe financial and emotional strain. His father is an agricultural day laborer earning only around USD 65 per month, while his mother cares for him and the other family members, making it impossible for the six-member family to afford the urgent NICU expenses. After being born at home, the baby developed delayed crying, bluish discoloration, convulsions, and blood-stained stool, and was diagnosed with several serious neonatal conditions requiring intensive care. The family was referred to Helpster Charity by Advocate Mohammad Sarwar Hossain Sakif while seeking support for his treatment. Without continued timely care, his severe conditions could worsen and may result in permanent brain injury, serious complications, or neonatal death, putting the future his family hopes for him at great risk.
Medical history
With Helpster’s support, Baby of Fatema Akter was admitted to Olympus Hospital (Pvt.) Ltd. on July 14, 2026, suffering from severe birth asphyxia, meconium aspiration, neonatal sepsis, and convulsions. Medical staff immediately stabilized him in the NICU with oxygen support, chest physiotherapy, anti-convulsant drugs, and broad-spectrum IV antibiotics to fight infection. After receiving continuous intensive care and medical interventions throughout his stay, he spent a total of 18 days in the hospital before being safely discharged on July 31, 2026. He was sent home with a post-discharge medication plan consisting of Omidon drops, Flacol drops, V-Plex drops, and Syrup B-9 to support his ongoing recovery. The comprehensive treatment was fully successful, leaving the baby infection-free and well-stabilized so he can now grow safely at home alongside his relieved family.
Prognosis
According to the treatment plan, NICU support, control of convulsions, infection and sepsis management with broad-spectrum antibiotics, nebulization, maintenance of oxygen saturation, and management of congenital heart disease are required to stabilize the newborn and support recovery. With timely intensive care and close monitoring, the baby may improve clinically and can be shifted to the ward once stable. If treatment is delayed or not provided, ongoing seizures, infection, respiratory problems, and complications related to congenital heart disease may worsen, potentially causing severe organ damage, neurological complications, or a life-threatening condition.
