About bones & joints
A displaced fracture of the right forearm means that the bones of the lower part of the right arm have been broken and shifted from their normal position after an injury. This can cause significant pain, swelling, difficulty moving the arm, and an inability to perform normal daily activities. In some cases, the arm may also appear bent or deformed. Since the broken bones are not properly aligned, timely treatment and careful monitoring are important to ensure proper healing and to prevent future problems with arm movement and strength.

Background
Tasfiya Seddika Aimon is a bright, kind-hearted, and determined 14-year-old girl who lives with her parents and six siblings, dreaming of becoming a doctor despite her family's financial hardship. Her father is the family's only earning member, supporting the household by farming rented land while struggling to repay large loans taken for his daughters' marriages, leaving him unable to afford the cost of further orthopedic treatment and surgery. Tasfiya previously received treatment under Helpster Charity (Patient ID: 7190), but despite immobilization with a short arm back slab, her fracture did not heal properly and now requires specialized orthopedic care. After learning about Helpster Charity through a medical outreach program at Kutupalong, the family again sought assistance, as they have exhausted their limited resources. Without timely surgical treatment, the displaced forearm fracture may heal in a deformed position, causing chronic pain, permanent loss of arm function, restricted movement, lifelong disability
Medical history
Tasfia Seddika Aymon, a 14-year-old girl, was admitted to Orion Hospital on 11.07.2026 through Helpster volunteer Md. Younus with a displaced fracture of the right forearm after her previous treatment failed to achieve proper healing. She successfully underwent Open Reduction and Internal Fixation (ORIF) of the right radius and ulna under anesthesia on 15.07.2026, followed by postoperative care, pain management, and rehabilitation. She remained hospitalized for seven days and was discharged on 18.07.2026 in stable condition with medications and follow-up instructions. Her treatment was fully supported by Helpster Charity, and her family sincerely thanks Helpster, volunteer Md. Younus, and the doctors, nurses, and staff of Orion Hospital for their compassionate care and generous support.
Prognosis
The recommended treatment is Open Reduction and Internal Fixation (ORIF) of the right radius and ulna under anesthesia to accurately realign and stabilize the fractured bones, allowing them to heal in the correct position. With timely surgery, proper pain management, physiotherapy, and regular follow-up, Tasfiya is expected to regain normal strength and movement of her right arm, return to school, and continue pursuing her dream of becoming a doctor. If left untreated, the fractures may heal in an abnormal position (malunion) or fail to heal, leading to chronic pain, permanent deformity, restricted arm movement, loss of hand function, and lifelong disability.
