Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?

When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

About bones & joints

Rheumatoid factor (RF) is an antibody that the immune system produces. It's commonly associated with rheumatoid arthritis, an autoimmune disease where the immune system mistakenly attacks the body's own tissues, particularly the joints.

Background

Happiness lives with her parents and wants to be a doctor. She enjoys reading science articles, traveling, and documentaries. Lately, she's been experiencing joint and chest pains, along with a poor appetite for four days. When a community health worker noticed her worsening condition and learned her family couldn't afford treatment, they referred her to Helpster Charity for assistance.

Medical history

Happiness came to the facility with joint pain, loss of appetite, chest pain, and fever. She was referred to the medical laboratory for a rheumatoid test, and following the doctor’s diagnosis, it was confirmed that she had a positive rheumatoid factor. The doctor prescribed medication and recommended further evaluation by a specialist. However, the family expressed that they could not afford the specialized care. The hospital clerk directed Happiness’ mother to speak with the Helpster coordinator. I met with her, assessed their family situation using the poverty rating questionnaire, and took time to explain more about Helpster Charity. Through the organization, we were able to support her daughter’s hospital bill. Her mother later shared this heartfelt message: “Indeed, you are a God-sent organization. May you be blessed. My family and I are truly grateful for the support you gave us. Seeing our daughter smile again means everything to us.”

Prognosis

Disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (DMARDs) can slow down the progression of the disease and prevent joint damage. Corticosteroids may be prescribed to reduce inflammation and pain during flare-ups.
