Osman Abdullah has been diagnosed with Acute Bronchiolitis with Iron Deficiency Anemia. Acute bronchiolitis is an inflammatory infection of the small airways that can cause cough, fever, breathing difficulty, and reduced oxygen levels. In Osman’s case, he developed severe respiratory distress with an oxygen saturation of 88%, along with fever, cough, rapid breathing, and chest crepitations. Iron deficiency anemia further affects his overall health and requires appropriate medical management and close monitoring.

Background
Osman Abdullah is a seven-month-old infant who lives with his parents and extended family in a rented home in Rayerbazar, Dhaka. His father, Md. Ripon, is the sole earner and works as a rickshaw puller, earning only approximately USD 53 per month, while his mother, Mahmuda Begum, is a housewife, making it difficult for the family to afford hospitalization and treatment. The family learned about Helpster Charity through Dr. Md. Ehteshamul Haque when Osman developed high-grade fever, persistent cough, severe respiratory distress, and oxygen saturation of only 88%. He was diagnosed with acute bronchiolitis and iron deficiency anemia and required urgent hospital-based treatment. Without timely treatment, his breathing difficulty could rapidly worsen and progress to respiratory failure, which could become life-threatening for such a young child.
Medical history
With Helpster’s support, Osman Abdullah was admitted to Al-Manar Hospital on July 16, 2026, suffering from severe acute bronchiolitis and anemia. Doctors immediately stabilized him on admission using intravenous fluids, injectable Ceftriaxone, nebulization sessions, and fever management. After completing a four-day hospital stay, he made a smooth recovery and was safely discharged on July 20, 2026. He was sent home with prescribed oral antibiotics, antiallergic syrup, nasal spray, and iron supplements to support full healing. Today, Osman is breathing comfortably, completely free of distress, and thriving peacefully at home with his family.
Prognosis
According to the doctor, treatment with IV fluids, injectable antibiotics, nebulization, paracetamol, and other supportive care is expected to control Osman’s acute bronchiolitis, reduce fever and respiratory distress, and support recovery. With timely treatment and monitoring, his breathing and overall condition are expected to improve, allowing him to return to normal feeding and daily activities. If left untreated, his severe respiratory distress and low oxygen saturation could worsen rapidly, potentially leading to severe hypoxemia, respiratory failure, and other life-threatening complications.
