Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Istedad Ahamod Mamun, a 12-year-old boy, has been diagnosed with an orthopedic implant in the right femur complicated by a chronic discharging sinus. This means the implant placed during his previous fracture surgery has become associated with a persistent infection, causing repeated pus discharge, pain, swelling, tenderness, and difficulty walking. The ongoing infection may spread deeper into the bone, causing chronic bone infection and further damage to the femur. Without timely treatment, his mobility may worsen and the infection could spread to the bloodstream, leading to serious and potentially life-threatening complications.

Background
Istedad Ahamod Mamun is a determined 12-year-old boy who studies in Class Five and dreams of becoming a teacher despite the hardship his family has faced since his father’s death. He lives with his widowed mother, elder brother, and younger sister; his mother survives by doing occasional work in other people’s homes, while his elder brother had to leave school after Class Eight, and the family sometimes struggles even to afford food. With no regular earning member or savings, they cannot afford the hospitalization and specialized orthopedic surgery needed to treat Mamun’s infected femoral implant. Without timely treatment, the chronic infection may spread deeper into the bone and bloodstream, causing severe bone damage, sepsis, permanent difficulty walking, or lifelong disability. In advanced cases, the infection could become life-threatening, making support from Helpster Charity essential to protect Mamun’s life and future.
Prognosis
According to the doctor, surgical removal of the retained orthopedic implants (IM nail/screws) is necessary to control the ongoing infection and allow the affected femur to heal properly. With successful surgery, appropriate antibiotics, wound care, and rehabilitation, Mamun is expected to have reduced pain and infection, improved wound healing, and gradually regain normal walking and daily activities. If left untreated, the infection may spread deeper into the bone, causing chronic osteomyelitis, progressive bone damage, persistent disability, or fracture complications. The infection may also spread to the bloodstream, leading to sepsis and potentially life-threatening complications.
