Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Enteric fever (typhoid) is a serious infection that causes prolonged high fever, abdominal pain, weakness, and loss of appetite. Severe gastroenteritis causes frequent loose stools and vomiting, leading to significant loss of fluids and body salts. As a result, Sufaira developed moderate to severe dehydration, causing dry mouth, reduced urination, lethargy, and extreme weakness. Her condition is serious and requires prompt treatment and close medical monitoring to prevent further complications.

Background
Sufaira Begum is a hopeful and determined 13-year-old refugee girl who lives with her parents and two siblings in a small bamboo-and-tarpaulin shelter and dreams of becoming a teacher. Her father is the family’s only earning member and works as a daily laborer whenever work is available, but his irregular income is barely enough for their basic needs, leaving the family unable to afford hospitalization, medicines, investigations, and emergency treatment. After learning about Helpster Charity through the medical outreach at Kutupalong, the family sought assistance as Sufaira became increasingly weak from enteric fever, severe diarrhea, vomiting, and dehydration. Without timely treatment, she may develop severe fluid and electrolyte loss, kidney problems, intestinal bleeding or perforation, bloodstream infection (sepsis), shock, and multi-organ failure. These complications can become life-threatening, making urgent financial and medical support essential for her recovery and return to school.
Medical history
Sufaira Begum, a 13-year-old girl, was admitted to Orion Hospital on 28.06.2026 through Helpster volunteer Md. Younus with enteric fever, severe gastroenteritis, and moderate to severe dehydration. She received IV fluids, antibiotics, nutritional support, close monitoring, and other supportive treatment. After seven days of hospitalization, her condition improved significantly, and she was discharged on 05.07.2026 in stable condition with medications and follow-up advice. Her treatment was fully supported by Helpster Charity, and her family sincerely thanks Helpster, volunteer Md. Younus, and the doctors, nurses, and staff of Orion Hospital for their compassionate care and generous support.
Prognosis
Doctors have advised hospitalization for intensive management of Enteric Fever complicated by severe gastroenteritis and moderate to severe dehydration, including intravenous fluids, medications, necessary investigations, nutritional support, and close monitoring. With timely and appropriate treatment, the fever and gastrointestinal symptoms are expected to resolve gradually, and the patient has a good chance of complete recovery without long-term complications. However, if left untreated, the condition may progress to severe dehydration, electrolyte imbalance, shock, intestinal complications, multi-organ dysfunction, and may ultimately result in severe complications or even death.
