Severe pneumonia is a life-threatening lung infection where the alveoli fill with fluid or pus, causing severe difficulty breathing and a dangerous drop in blood oxygen levels. It typically requires emergency care and hospitalization to manage breathing with oxygen therapy, ventilators, and strong intravenous medications while Anemia is a medical condition where your blood lacks enough healthy red blood cells or hemoglobin to carry needed oxygen to your body's tissues. This low oxygen level frequently causes physical exhaustion and weakness.

Background
Princes is a cheerful and active one-year-old girl who enjoys interacting with those around her. She lives with her grandmother in a modest rural home after her teenage mother returned to school to continue her education. Her grandmother is her primary caregiver and relies on small-scale farming for a limited and unpredictable income, which is often insufficient to meet the household’s basic needs, including healthcare. Despite these challenges, Princes is being raised in a loving and supportive environment. Princes had been well until two days before admission, when she developed a persistent cough, high fever, difficulty breathing, poor appetite and increasing body weakness. Her condition progressively worsened, and she became less active and increasingly unable to feed normally. Concerned about her deterioration, her grandmother borrowed money and took her to hospital for medical attention. She did not even have money for treatment but trusted that her grandchild will be treated and the money for treatment will be discussed later.. Clinical examination and laboratory investigations led to a diagnosis of severe pneumonia and anaemia.
Medical history
Princes brought to the hospital by her grandmother with history of; cough, difficult in breathing, fever and general body weakness. On examination and laboratory results, she was diagnosed with severe Malaria with Anaemia. Was given; I.v Cef , I.v paracetamol,I.v Hydrocortisone, I.v Ringers lacted and 10% D. She responded positively to medication and discharged home on stable Condition
Prognosis
Princes, a 1-year-old baby, has severe pneumonia complicated by anaemia, a serious condition that requires urgent hospital treatment. Severe pneumonia can make it difficult for the lungs to supply enough oxygen to the body, while anaemia reduces the blood's ability to carry oxygen. Together, these conditions can worsen breathing difficulties and increase the risk of complications. Close monitoring, antibiotics (if the pneumonia is bacterial), oxygen therapy if needed, treatment for the anaemia, and supportive care are essential. With prompt and appropriate medical treatment, many children recover well from severe pneumonia and anaemia.
