Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Md. Faisal Korim has been diagnosed with status post Open Reduction and Internal Fixation (ORIF) for a left femoral shaft fracture with retained internal fixation hardware. His previous fracture has healed, but the metal implant used to stabilize the bone remains in place and is now causing persistent pain and discomfort around the surgical area. This pain can interfere with walking, physical activity, and his normal daily life. Surgical evaluation and timely removal of the retained hardware are recommended to relieve his symptoms and prevent possible complications.

Background
Md. Faisal Karim is a hardworking and hopeful 11-year-old boy who studies in Class Four, dreams of becoming a teacher, and lives closely with his parents and four siblings. His father works as an office cleaner and is the family’s only earning member, but his small income must cover food, household needs, and the children’s education, leaving no savings for Faisal’s required orthopedic surgery. After learning about Helpster Charity through the medical outreach at Kutupalong, the family sought support to remove the retained implant in his left femur, which has been causing persistent pain and discomfort. Without timely treatment, the implant may continue to cause pain, irritation, difficulty walking, and restriction of his normal activities, with possible complications such as infection or damage to surrounding tissues. Financial assistance is therefore essential to help Faisal receive proper treatment, regain comfortable movement, and return to his education and normal childhood activities.
Medical history
Md. Faisal Korim, an 11-year-old boy, was admitted to Orion Hospital on 12.06.2026 through Helpster volunteer Md. Younus with persistent pain from retained implants following a previous left femur fracture surgery. After evaluation, he successfully underwent surgical removal of the retained orthopedic implants, followed by pain management, wound care, and rehabilitation. He recovered well and was discharged on 16.06.2026 in stable condition with medications and follow-up advice. His treatment was fully supported by Helpster Charity, and his family sincerely thanks Helpster, its volunteer, and the medical team at Orion Hospital for their generous support and compassionate care.
Prognosis
According to the doctor, surgical removal of the retained orthopedic implants (IM nail/screws) is recommended to relieve Faisal’s persistent pain and discomfort after his femoral fracture has healed. With successful surgery, proper wound care, pain management, and rehabilitation, he is expected to regain comfortable movement and gradually return to school and normal physical activities. If left untreated, the retained hardware may continue to cause pain, irritation, restricted movement, and difficulty walking, and may increase the risk of infection or damage to surrounding tissues.
