Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?
When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

About heart
Mohammad Mirhan, a 4-day-old newborn boy, has been diagnosed with Dextro-Transposition of the Great Arteries (D-TGA) with Atrial Septal Defect (ASD) and Acute Kidney Injury (AKI). D-TGA is a critical congenital heart defect in which the two main arteries leaving the heart are connected in the wrong positions, preventing enough oxygen-rich blood from reaching the body and causing severe bluish discoloration and breathing distress. His condition has required mechanical ventilation followed by CPAP and intensive supportive treatment

Background
Mohammad Mirhan is a critically ill 12-day-old baby who is deeply cherished by his parents, older brother, and elderly grandparents, all hoping for his survival. His father, Md. Abdul Mazed, recently lost his job as a hotel attendant, leaving the six-member family without a steady income and unable to afford Mirhan’s specialized heart treatment. Born with d-TGA and ASD, Mirhan has already suffered severe breathing difficulty, dangerously low oxygen levels, and acute kidney injury, requiring intensive respiratory support to keep him stable. Without urgent Balloon Atrial Septostomy followed by an Arterial Switch Operation, his body may continue to receive critically low oxygen, leading to worsening organ damage, heart failure, shock, and death. Through Dr. Tauhid Md. Mustakim, the family reached Helpster Charity, whose financial support is now essential to give Mirhan a chance to survive and grow up with his family.
Medical history
With Helpster’s support, Mohammad Mirhan was admitted to East West Medical College & Hospital on July 18, 2026, for severe respiratory distress and congenital heart conditions. Doctors immediately stabilized him using mechanical ventilation and CPAP alongside essential IV medications like Inj. Alprostin to maintain his oxygen levels. He spent a total of ten days receiving intensive critical care in the hospital before being discharged on July 27, 2026. He was sent home on targeted supportive care to remain stable while awaiting his urgent corrective heart surgery at NICVD. Thanks to this timely emergency care, Mohammad’s condition was successfully stabilized, significantly reducing immediate life-threatening risks and giving him a fighting chance toward recovery.
Prognosis
According to the doctor, Mohammad Mirhan has a serious congenital heart defect (D-TGA with ASD) and requires Balloon Atrial Septostomy followed by an Arterial Switch Operation after appropriate stabilization. Successful treatment can improve oxygen circulation, correct the abnormal blood flow through the heart, and give him a much better chance of normal growth and development. Without timely intervention, his oxygen level may remain dangerously low, leading to worsening breathing difficulty, heart failure, organ damage, severe complications, and potentially death. Therefore, timely cardiac intervention is essential and life-saving.
