Md. Nayeem has been diagnosed with a 15-day-old displaced fracture of the left radius and ulna following an accidental fall while playing football. Both bones of his left forearm have shifted from their normal position, causing severe pain, swelling, tenderness, visible deformity, and significant difficulty moving his wrist and forearm. Because the fracture has remained displaced for about 15 days, proper healing without surgical correction is unlikely.

Background
Md. Nayeem is a determined 13-year-old boy studying at a Hifz Madrasa who lives with his parents and younger sister, Jamila, while his elder sister, Jannati, is married. His father, Sohag Sikder, is the family’s sole earner and makes only about BDT 6,000 per month pulling a rented rickshaw, while his mother, Rehena Begum, is a homemaker, leaving the family unable to afford the urgent orthopedic treatment Nayeem needs. After learning about Helpster Charity through a community medical outreach conducted by Anowar Hossain Anu and Meghlal Roy, the family sought financial support for his displaced fractures of the left radius and ulna. Without timely treatment, the broken bones may heal in the wrong position, causing persistent pain, deformity, weakness, and permanent restriction of hand and forearm movement. Serious complications could leave Nayeem with long-term disability
Medical history
Md. Nayeem, a 13-year-old boy, was admitted to Al Aqsa Hospital and Diagnostic Center on 18.07.2026 with a displaced fracture of the left radius and ulna. He underwent Open Reduction and K-wire Fixation on 19.07.2026, followed by pain management, medications, wound care, and postoperative monitoring. He recovered well and was discharged on 23.07.2026 with medications and follow-up instructions. His family sincerely thanks Helpster Charity, its dedicated volunteers Anowar Hossain Anu and Meghlal Roy, and the doctors, nurses, and staff of Al Aqsa Hospital and Diagnostic Center for their generous financial support, compassionate care, and successful treatment.
Prognosis
According to the doctor, Open Reduction and Internal Fixation (ORIF) with K-wire fixation under Brachial Plexus Block is recommended to restore the normal alignment and function of Nayeem’s fractured left radius and ulna. With timely surgery and proper rehabilitation, the bones are expected to heal correctly, reducing pain and allowing him to gradually regain normal wrist and forearm movement. If left untreated, the fracture may heal in the wrong position, causing permanent wrist deformity, shortening, chronic pain, persistent swelling, weakness, and restricted movement. These complications could result in long-term disability
