Mohammad Amin has been diagnosed with a right-sided reducible incomplete inguinal hernia. This condition occurs when part of the intestine pushes through a weak area in the groin, causing a visible swelling that becomes more prominent during coughing, straining, prolonged standing, or physical activity. Over the past year, Mohammad Amin has experienced increasing swelling with intermittent pain and discomfort, making it difficult for him to walk, play, and attend his daily activities comfortably.

Background
Mohammad Amin is a kind and responsible 12-year-old Rohingya (FDMN) boy who studies in Grade 2 at a learning center in the refugee camp and dreams of becoming a teacher. As the eldest of five siblings, he lovingly cares for and protects his younger brother and sister, while his father, an irregular daily wage laborer, struggles to provide even the family's basic necessities, making the cost of surgery impossible to afford. For the past year, Amin has suffered from a painful groin swelling that has gradually made walking, studying, and playing increasingly difficult, and doctors have advised urgent surgery to prevent serious complications. Without timely treatment, the hernia could become trapped, cutting off the blood supply to the intestine and causing a life-threatening emergency that would require immediate surgery. His family learned about Helpster Charity during a medical outreach program at Kutupalong Refugee Camp, giving this vulnerable Rohingya family hope that Amin can receive the lifesaving treatment he urgently needs despite their extreme financial hardship.
Medical history
Mohammed Amin, a 12-year-old boy, was admitted to Orion Hospital on 17.07.2026 through Helpster volunteer Md. Younus with a painful right-sided groin swelling that had persisted for one year. After clinical evaluation, he was diagnosed with a right-sided inguinal hernia and successfully underwent hernia surgery on 20.07.2026, followed by appropriate postoperative care. He was discharged in stable condition on 22.07.2026 with medications and follow-up advice. The entire cost of his treatment was covered by Helpster Charity, and his family sincerely thanks Helpster, its volunteers, and the hospital team for giving Amin the opportunity to recover and live a healthy, pain-free life.
Prognosis
The treating doctor advised that Mohammad Amin requires timely surgical repair of his right-sided inguinal hernia to achieve a full recovery and return to his normal daily activities without pain or discomfort. With successful surgery and proper follow-up care, he is expected to resume his education, play freely, and enjoy a healthy childhood. If left untreated, the hernia may become trapped, cutting off the blood supply to the intestine (strangulation), which can cause severe pain, intestinal damage, infection, and become a life-threatening emergency requiring urgent surgery
