About bones & joints
Md. Shaker has been diagnosed with landslide-related polytrauma, including a closed displaced fracture of the shaft of the left femur. This serious injury means the thigh bone has broken and shifted out of its normal position without breaking the skin, causing severe pain, swelling, inability to bear weight, and significant difficulty moving the affected leg. Because the injury occurred as part of multiple traumatic injuries from a landslide, he also requires careful monitoring for complications such as infection, blood loss, and poor bone healing.

Background
Md. Shaker is a brave and hardworking young man who lives with his widowed mother and three siblings, carrying the responsibility of supporting his family after losing his father at an early age. Following the devastating landslide that destroyed their fragile home in Cox's Bazar, he suffered life-threatening injuries and was initially admitted to Orion Hospital (Admin Panel ID: 6878), where emergency treatment stabilized his condition, but his definitive ORIF surgery had to be postponed because he was too critically ill to undergo anesthesia. During the following weeks, the family exhausted all their limited resources while caring for him and had no means to pay for the planned surgery. Through Helpster Charity's medical outreach in Kutupalong, they found hope and sought assistance to continue his treatment. Without timely ORIF surgery, his fractured femur may heal improperly, causing permanent disability, chronic pain, limb deformity, infection, inability to walk or work, and lifelong dependence on others.
Medical history
Md. Shaker was readmitted to Orion Hospital on 19.07.2026 through Helpster volunteer Tamjid Md. Muktadir for definitive treatment of his landslide-related fractures. After specialist evaluation, he successfully underwent Open Reduction and Internal Fixation (ORIF) under anesthesia on 23.07.2026, followed by postoperative care, rehabilitation, and close monitoring. He remained hospitalized for eight days and was discharged on 26.07.2026 in stable condition with medications and follow-up instructions. His treatment was fully supported by Helpster Charity, and his family sincerely thanks Helpster, volunteer Tamjid Md. Muktadir, and the doctors, nurses, and staff of Orion Hospital for their compassionate care, generous financial support, and successful treatment.
Prognosis
The recommended treatment is Open Reduction and Internal Fixation (ORIF) of the left tibia and fibula fracture under anesthesia to realign and stabilize the fractured bones for proper healing. With timely surgery, appropriate pain management, physiotherapy, and regular follow-up, Md. Shaker is expected to achieve good bone healing, regain strength and mobility, and gradually return to his normal daily activities. If left untreated, the fractures may heal in an abnormal position or fail to heal, leading to permanent deformity, chronic pain, limb shortening, difficulty walking, recurrent infection, loss of limb function, and lifelong disability
