Mohammad Rifat is a hardworking and responsible 18-year-old young man who supports his family by working as a day labourer despite their difficult circumstances. He lives with his elderly parents and his 12-year-old brother, who studies in a Hifz madrasa, in a family of four. As both the family's primary earner and his father's support, his monthly income of approximately BDT 8,000 is barely enough to cover food and other basic necessities, leaving the family unable to afford the cost of emergency surgery, hospitalization, medicines, and follow-up care. After learning about Helpster Charity through volunteer Masud Rana, the family sought assistance in the hope of restoring Rifat's health and ability to work. Without timely surgery, the fractured elbow may heal improperly, leading to non-union, permanent loss of elbow movement, chronic pain, post-traumatic arthritis, and long-term disability that could prevent him from working and place his entire family in even greater financial hardship.

Mohammad Rifat was admitted to Narayanganj Poly Clinic General Hospital on 22 July 2026 with persistent pain and swelling of the left elbow following an accidental injury that had occurred approximately 20 days earlier. Clinical evaluation and X-ray examination confirmed a fracture of the left olecranon process of the ulna. Considering the seriousness of the injury, the orthopedic team advised and performed open reduction and tension band wiring under general anesthesia. During his hospital stay, he received pre-operative assessment, surgical treatment, post-operative monitoring, pain management, antibiotics, wound care, and supportive medical treatment. His condition improved satisfactorily after surgery, and he was discharged from the hospital on 24 July 2026 with advice for regular follow-up, medication, wound care, and rehabilitation exercises to ensure proper healing and restoration of elbow function.

The recommended treatment is Open Reduction and Tension Band Wiring under General Anesthesia to accurately realign the fractured olecranon, stabilize the bone, and restore normal elbow function. With timely surgery, appropriate pain management, physiotherapy, and regular follow-up, Mohammad Rifat is expected to achieve good bone healing, regain normal strength and movement of his left arm, and return to work and his daily activities. If left untreated, the fracture may fail to heal properly (non-union), resulting in permanent loss of elbow extension, chronic pain, post-traumatic arthritis, reduced arm function, and long-term disability
