Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?

When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

About pulmonology

Hasan Prodhania, a 15-year-old boy, has been diagnosed with bilateral pleural effusion, a condition in which excess fluid collects around both lungs. This fluid can compress the lungs and make it difficult for them to expand properly, causing chest pain, cough, shortness of breath, and reduced oxygen levels. As the fluid increases, his breathing may become progressively more difficult and significantly affect his normal activities and overall health.

Background

Hasan Prodhania is a determined 15-year-old Class 7 student who lives with his parents and younger brother, Saiful Islam, and hopes to continue his education despite his family’s difficult circumstances. His father, Ayat Ali, is the family’s only earning member, working as a day labourer for just BDT 7,000 per month, which is barely enough to meet their basic needs and leaves no money for hospitalization, investigations, medicines, and ongoing treatment. With no permanent home and no savings, the family sought assistance from Helpster Charity through volunteer Masud Rana when Hasan’s breathing became increasingly difficult. Without timely treatment, the fluid around both lungs may increase and severely restrict his breathing, leading to low oxygen levels, infection, respiratory failure, and other life-threatening complications. Financial support is therefore essential to help Hasan receive proper treatment, recover safely, and return to school and normal life.

Medical history

Hasan Prodhania was admitted to Narayanganj Poly Clinic General Hospital on 23/07/2026 with bilateral pleural effusion after suffering from a prolonged cough and cold, chest pain, and breathing difficulties. He received conservative treatment, including appropriate medications, supportive care, and close medical observation throughout his hospital stay. His condition gradually improved with treatment, and he was discharged in stable condition on 28/07/2026 with advice to continue the prescribed medications and attend follow-up visits as recommended by the doctor.

Prognosis

According to the doctor, Hasan requires immediate hospitalization, antibiotic therapy, close monitoring, and other supportive treatment to control infection, reduce complications, and improve his breathing. With timely and appropriate treatment, the pleural fluid is expected to decrease, allowing his lungs to expand better and helping him gradually return to normal daily activities and school. If left untreated, the fluid may continue to accumulate, causing severe breathing difficulty, low oxygen levels, serious chest infection, respiratory failure, and other life-threatening complications. Early treatment is essential for a safe recovery and to prevent long-term lung damage.
