Background
Abubakar is an 8-year-old boy who enjoys playing with cats and dreams of becoming a lawyer. Around 6 months ago, he was found to have a strange swelling in his scrotum that didn't go away, causing him some mild pain, discomfort, and feeling of heaviness. He went to the hospital for treatment, and the doctors diagnosed him with hydrocele. They recommended a procedure called hydrocelectomy to fix it.
Medical history
He was admitted for surgery on the 1st January,2024 on account of hydrocele.had successful surgery,Post operative treatment duly served and was discharged home on 4th March,2024.
Prognosis
The persistent presence of a hydrocele can cause ongoing discomfort, heaviness, or a feeling of fullness in the scrotum. Although hydroceles are not typically associated with infections, untreated ones may become prone to infections, which can result in pain and complications. Larger hydroceles can interfere with activities like walking or participating in sports due to the added weight and size of the swollen scrotum. Surgical removal of the hydrocele sac is the most effective and permanent treatment for hydrocele. It is typically performed as an outpatient procedure under local or general anesthesia. The surgeon makes a small incision in the scrotum, drains the fluid, and removes the sac.
