Isaiah is a four-year-old boy living with cerebral palsy and the only child of a single mother who works as a domestic worker. He lived with his elderly grandmother from six months of age and now stays in a home for children with special needs, which relies largely on well-wishers because many of the children come from financially struggling families. During a Saturday outreach in Nyakunguru Village, Isaiah was brought for assessment by his mother. He appeared extremely weak, exhausted and visibly ill, with persistent high fever, poor activity and significant lethargy. His underlying cerebral palsy made his illness particularly concerning and increased his need for careful assessment and supportive care. His mother also appeared physically exhausted, with dust covering her shoes and lower legs, suggesting they had travelled a considerable distance on foot to reach the outreach. Through the partnership between Awasi Catholic Mission Health Centre and Helpster Charity, Isaiah was urgently referred to the facility. Given his poor clinical condition and diagnosis, he was immediately admitted for treatment and close monitoring.

Isaiahis admitted with septicemia a serious bloodstream infection resulting from the spread of bacteria from a primary infection site into the systemic circulation. In this case, the child has underlying cerebral palsy, which increases susceptibility to infections due to factors such as impaired swallowing with risk of aspiration, recurrent respiratory infections, possible urinary tract infections, poor nutritional status, and reduced mobility. The child presented with features suggestive of systemic infection including fever, lethargy, poor feeding, and respiratory distress. Given the high risk of rapid deterioration in children with cerebral palsy, urgent inpatient management with intravenous antibiotics, fluids, and close monitoring is warranted to prevent complications such as septic shock and organ dysfunction. Isaiah was admitted with septicaemia and pneumonia, after admission,he showed improvement thus allowed to go home through nutrition clinic, on oral medication and food by prescription. During the ward admission, he also had nutritional review. He is on a one week follow up for the next two months

Isaiah, a four-year-old child with cerebral palsy, was diagnosed with septicaemia after presenting with persistent fever, marked weakness, lethargy and poor general condition. Septicaemia is potentially life-threatening and requires urgent antibiotics, supportive care and close monitoring for organ complications. His underlying cerebral palsy may increase the complexity of his care. With prompt treatment and a good clinical response, his prognosis is cautiously favourable, although careful monitoring and follow-up are essential.
