About pulmonology
Anas Ali has been diagnosed with recurrent severe pneumonia. Pneumonia is a serious infection of the lungs that causes inflammation and fluid accumulation in the air sacs, which can make breathing difficult and reduce oxygen levels. In Anas’s case, the infection has recurred after previous episodes and is causing fever and significant respiratory distress following 14 days of cold and cough. His condition is serious and requires close medical monitoring and appropriate treatment to control the infection and support breathing.

Background
Anas Ali is a young child who was reasonably well until developing a common cold and cough that gradually worsened, with fever up to 102°F and severe respiratory distress. He lives with his parents and 3.5-year-old sister in extremely difficult conditions, while his father is the sole earning member and works as a day laborer, earning approximately about USD 65 per month, making it impossible for the family to afford repeated hospital expenses. The family learned about Helpster Charity through the guardian of a previous Helpster-supported patient, and Anas had previously received treatment through Helpster under Helpster Charity ID 6546; unfortunately, he became seriously ill again and the family sought assistance. He was admitted to Olympus Hospital on 29 July 2026 with recurrent severe pneumonia, requiring PICU care, nebulization, broad-spectrum antibiotics, and close monitoring. Without timely treatment, his recurrent pneumonia and severe respiratory distress could rapidly worsen, leading to dangerously low oxygen levels, respiratory failure, and potentially life-threatening complications.
Medical history
Anas Ali, a 6-month-old baby, was admitted to the hospital on 29 July 2026 with recurrent severe pneumonia, fever, cough, cold, and respiratory distress. He had a history of severe pneumonia about one and a half months earlier, which made his condition more concerning. During his hospital stay, he received appropriate medicines, nebulization, supportive treatment, and close monitoring in the PICU. Gradually, his infection improved, his breathing became stable, and his lungs became clear. After successful treatment and recovery, Anas was discharged on 11 August 2026 in stable condition with advice to take all medicines regularly and attend a follow-up visit with Dr. Kuntal Roy after 7 days. His family was advised to maintain proper hygiene and keep the baby clean and dry to support his continued recovery.
Prognosis
According to the treating doctors, Anas Ali has been diagnosed with recurrent severe pneumonia, requiring PICU care, broad-spectrum antibiotics, nebulization, fever control, and close monitoring. With timely treatment, his breathing difficulty and infection are expected to improve, allowing him to recover and return to normal feeding, activity, and development. However, if treatment is delayed or unavailable, the infection and respiratory distress may worsen rapidly, causing dangerously low oxygen levels, respiratory failure, sepsis, or other life-threatening complications. Prompt medical intervention is therefore essential to stabilize his condition and support a safe recovery.
