Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

About infections
The child is a 2-day-old newborn suffering from Acute Watery Diarrhea (AWD) with dehydration. Acute watery diarrhea is a condition in which the newborn passes frequent loose, watery stools, causing rapid loss of fluids and essential electrolytes. In a 2-day-old newborn, this fluid loss can quickly lead to dehydration, resulting in poor feeding, dry mouth, lethargy, weakness, and reduced circulation. Without prompt fluid replacement and close medical monitoring, severe dehydration can progress rapidly and become life-threatening.

Background
Shanto Barmon is a 2-day-old newborn from a family of four whose father, Shadhin Barmon, is the sole earning member and earns only approximately USD 41 per month through daily work. With such limited income, the family struggles to meet basic household needs, leaving them unable to afford the urgent medical care required for their newborn. Although Shanto was healthy at birth, he soon developed frequent watery diarrhea, fever, vomiting, poor feeding, dry mouth, lethargy, and progressive dehydration, requiring emergency hospital treatment. As a newborn, severe dehydration can worsen rapidly and may lead to electrolyte imbalance, shock, and other life-threatening complications if treatment is delayed. The family learned about Helpster Charity through volunteer Sadika Rahman, giving them an opportunity to seek timely care for Shanto.
Medical history
Shanto Barmon, a 2-day-old newborn, was admitted on 01.08.2026 with acute watery diarrhea, dehydration, and repeated vomiting. He received rehydration therapy, medications, supportive care, and close monitoring during his hospital stay. His condition gradually improved, and he was discharged on 05.08.2026 after making a good recovery. His family sincerely thanks Helpster Charity, its generous donors, volunteers, and the hospital medical team for their valuable support and compassionate care. They are deeply grateful for helping Shanto receive the treatment he needed at such a critical time.
Prognosis
According to the doctor, hospitalization with hydration, supportive therapy, and close monitoring is expected to restore the newborn’s fluid and electrolyte balance and improve feeding, activity, and overall condition. With timely treatment, the baby is expected to stabilize and recover without complications from dehydration. If left untreated, acute watery diarrhea can cause rapid and severe dehydration, electrolyte imbalance, circulatory compromise, and weakness, which may become life-threatening in a newborn.
