Ankita Ray has been diagnosed with severe pneumonia, a serious infection of the lungs that can cause inflammation and difficulty breathing. She developed fever for four days, followed by cold, cough, and respiratory distress, with wheezing and crepitations detected in both lungs. Her temperature was 101°F and oxygen saturation was 92%, indicating significant respiratory involvement. The condition requires careful medical attention because severe pneumonia can impair breathing and oxygen supply if it progresses.

Background
Ankita Ray is a young child who developed cold, cough, and fever that gradually worsened over four days before progressing to respiratory distress. She lives with her parents and uncle, while her father is the main earning member and works as an auto-rickshaw driver, earning approximately USD 49 per month, with her uncle providing only occasional support as a day laborer. With this limited and irregular income, the family struggles to meet their basic needs and cannot afford the cost of Ankita’s hospital treatment. The family learned about Helpster Charity through volunteers Tanjila Shahin Ema and Redwan, who helped them seek the medical support she needed. Ankita was admitted to Seba Hospital on 4 August 2026 and diagnosed with severe pneumonia; without timely treatment and close monitoring, her respiratory distress could worsen and lead to dangerously low oxygen levels and potentially life-threatening complications
Medical history
Ankita Ray was admitted to Seba Hospital on 4 August 2026 at 8:00 PM with severe pneumonia, following several days of fever, cold, cough, and respiratory distress. She received treatment under medical supervision and was kept under close observation throughout her hospitalization. During her stay, she was provided with medicines, supportive care, and appropriate monitoring by the doctors and nurses. Her condition gradually improved with treatment, and she was discharged on 10 August 2026 at 5:00 PM with medical advice for continued care and follow-up. At the time of discharge, the patient’s family expressed their sincere gratitude to Helpster Volunteer Tanjila Ema and the Seba Hospital team.
Prognosis
According to the treating doctor, Ankita’s severe pneumonia requires hospitalization, conservative and supportive treatment, and close monitoring. With timely treatment, her respiratory distress and infection are expected to improve, allowing her to recover and return to normal activities. If treatment is delayed or not provided, the pneumonia may worsen, leading to increasing respiratory distress, reduced oxygen levels, and serious complications. In severe cases, the infection can progress to respiratory failure and become life-threatening, making timely medical care essential for her recovery and well-being.
