Background
Arman Hosen is a 4-month-old baby boy who was previously well but gradually developed fever, cold, persistent cough, respiratory distress, and excessive crying, making him increasingly weak and uncomfortable. His father, Helal Uddin, is the sole earning member and works as an auto-rickshaw driver, earning only approximately USD 41 per month, which is insufficient to support the family of seven, including Arman, his mother, three siblings, and grandmother. The family is already under financial pressure, particularly because Arman’s 6-year-old sister, Sadiya Akter, has a disability, leaving them unable to afford the cost of hospitalization and treatment. Arman was diagnosed with severe pneumonia, with wheezing, bilateral lung crepitations, and oxygen saturation of 91%; without timely treatment, his breathing difficulty and oxygen deficiency could worsen rapidly and become life-threatening. The family learned about Helpster Charity through the father of a previous patient, Ayman, giving them hope that Arman can receive the urgent care he needs.
Medical history
Arman Hosen, a 4-month-old baby boy, was admitted to Sheba Hospital on 17 August 2026 at 8:30 PM with severe pneumonia. He received treatment under the care of the medical team and was kept under close observation throughout his hospitalization. During his stay, he was provided with necessary medicines, supportive care, and monitoring by the doctors and nurses. His condition gradually improved with treatment, and he was discharged on 24 August 2026 at 8:00 PM with medical advice for continued care at home.
Prognosis
Hospitalization with antibiotic therapy, nebulization, and other supportive treatment is expected to control Arman’s severe pneumonia, improve his breathing and oxygen level, and support his recovery. With timely treatment and close monitoring, he is expected to stabilize and gradually return to normal feeding, activity, and development. If treatment is delayed or not received, the infection may worsen rapidly, causing increasing respiratory distress, dangerously low oxygen levels, and other serious complications. In a young infant, severe deterioration can become life-threatening without appropriate medical care.
