Eugene is a patient who had earlier been diagnosed with peptic ulcer disease, was put on treatment and was advised to avoid the exacerbating factors. Two days ago, he experienced intense abdominal pain accompanied by fever and vomiting. By the time he arrived at the hospital, he was quite dehydrated and emaciated. He was immediately put on IV fluids to elevate his hydration status before other tests were done. He was treated after the laboratory tests and proceeded to full recovery.
Prognosis
Malaria should be treated promptly with the use of antimalarial drugs. If left untreated, it can lead to severe complications and even death. It can result in organ failure, severe anemia, neurological issues, and in some cases, prove fatal, making early diagnosis and treatment crucial for preventing these life-threatening consequences. Untreated gastritis can lead to erosion of the mucosal lining, increasing the risk of developing ulcers and even gastric bleeding, which poses a serious health risk.
