Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?

When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

About pulmonology

Mohammad is diagnosed with Pneumonia, Anaemia and Malnutrition. Pneumonia is an infection that affects one or both lungs. It causes the air sacs, or alveoli, of the lungs to fill up with fluid or pus. Bacteria, viruses, or fungi may cause pneumonia. Anemia is a problem of not having enough healthy red blood cells or hemoglobin to carry oxygen to the body's tissues. Having anemia can cause tiredness, weakness and shortness of breath. Malnutrition refers to deficiencies or excesses in nutrient intake, imbalance of essential nutrients or impaired nutrient utilization.

Background

Mohammad is a 9-month-old boy from Narayanganj who lives happily with his parents in a tin-roofed house. His parents dream of him becoming a cricketer. His dad is the only one who works to support the family. Unfortunately, Mohammad is sick with severe pneumonia. He's having a hard time breathing and has a cough, cold, and fever. He's also dealing with anemia and malnutrition. Mohammad was given oral antibiotics, but he didn't get better. That's why the family came to Narayanganj Polyclinic for better treatment and is seeking help from Helpster Charity.

Medical history

Mohammad was suffering from Severe Pneumonia with Malnutrition. He took antibiotics several times, but didn’t help. Mohammad has shortness of breath, fast breathing, cough and cold, fever and anemia. He needed emergency hospitalization. Mohammad was treated with oxygen inhalation, nebulization with salbutamol, ipratropium bromide, budesonide, and injectable antibiotics as condition was very serious. Now Mohammad is doing well and back at home with his parents. Mohammad (Mohammad's Father): "I am so grateful to Narayanganj Polyclinic and Helpster Charity Donors. Our son was suffering and we couldn't get proper treatment in a state hospital as we had no money for the medicines. We were desperate. Now we are happy! Thank you so much!"

Prognosis

The patient has been suffering from cough and cold, fever, fast breathings, anemia. He has developed severe pneumonia and malnutrition recently which got life-threatening. The patient needs urgent hospitalisation and immediate treatment. Pneumonia should be treated with antibiotics. If left untreated, pneumonia may lead to the permanent lung damage, respiratory failure, septicaemia (infection entering blood stream and causing sepsis), pleural effusion (accumulation of fluid in the space between the lung and chest wall, which can make breathing difficult), and other life-threatening complications.
