Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?
When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

About pulmonology
Mahfuzur Rahman, a 2-month-old boy, has been diagnosed with severe pneumonia. Pneumonia is an infection of the lungs that causes inflammation and accumulation of fluid or secretions in the airways, which can make breathing difficult and reduce oxygen levels. In young infants, severe pneumonia can progress rapidly and may cause respiratory distress and other serious complications. In Mahfuzur’s case, the presence of respiratory distress, wheezing, and reduced oxygen saturation indicates a significant lung infection requiring hospital-based treatment and close monitoring.

Background
Mahfuzur Rahman is a 2-month-old baby boy who became seriously ill after developing fever, cough, and cold, followed by breathing difficulty and excessive crying. He lives with his parents, elder brother, and elder sister in a four-member family, while his father, Mostak Ahmed (30), is the sole earning member and works as a day laborer, earning only about USD 29 per month. With such limited income, the family struggles to meet basic household needs and cannot afford the cost of Mahfuzur’s urgent treatment. He was admitted to Seba Hospital on 21 August 2026 and diagnosed with severe pneumonia, with low oxygen saturation and abnormal lung findings; without timely treatment, his breathing could worsen and become life-threatening. The family learned about Helpster Charity through a relative.
Medical history
Mahfuzur Rahman was admitted to Seba Hospital on 21 August 2026 at 10:55 AM with severe pneumonia after developing fever, cold and cough, respiratory distress, and excessive crying. He received treatment under the care of the doctors and nurses and was kept under close observation throughout his hospitalization. During his stay, he was provided with appropriate medicines, nebulization, and supportive care to manage the infection and breathing difficulties. His condition gradually improved with treatment, and he was discharged on 28 August 2026 at 4:00 PM with medical advice. At the time of discharge, his family expressed their sincere gratitude to Helpster Volunteer Tanjila Ema and the Seba Hospital team.
Prognosis
According to the treating doctors, hospitalization with appropriate antibiotics, nebulization, and supportive therapy is recommended to manage Mahfuzur’s severe pneumonia. With timely treatment and close monitoring, his breathing difficulties and infection are expected to improve, supporting a safe recovery. If left untreated, severe pneumonia may worsen rapidly and lead to dangerously low oxygen levels, respiratory failure, or other life-threatening complications. As Mahfuzur is only two months old, prompt treatment is especially important to prevent complications and support his recovery.
