Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?
When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background
Maya is a cheerful girl who attends kindergarten. She loves jumping rope and playing hide and seek with her friends. Her favorite foods are fish and Ugali. In the future, she dreams of becoming a teacher. Two days ago, she started having diarrhea, which was soon accompanied by coughing, fever, and vomiting.
Medical history
Maya presented with fever, vomiting, diarrhea, and a cough. Upon evaluation, she was diagnosed with severe malaria and acute gastroenteritis. A malaria test conducted in the laboratory confirmed a positive result. She was immediately started on a 3-day course of injectable anti-malarial medication and also received an anti-emetic injection to manage persistent vomiting, as she was unable to keep down any food or fluids. By the third day of treatment, Maya had significantly improved and was transitioned to oral anti-malarial medication. A follow-up phone call conducted three days later confirmed that she was recovering well—she could even be heard playing in the background.
Prognosis
Malaria should be treated promptly with the use of antimalarial drugs. If left untreated, it can lead to severe complications and even death. It can result in organ failure, severe anemia, neurological issues, and in some cases, prove fatal, making early diagnosis and treatment crucial for preventing these life-threatening consequences. Gastroenteritis can cause significant loss of fluids and electrolytes through vomiting and diarrhea. Without proper treatment, dehydration can become severe and require urgent medical attention.
