Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?
When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

A paraumbilical (or umbilical) hernia is a hole in the connective tissue of the abdominal wall in the midline with close approximation to the umbilicus.

Background
Mustapha is a son of a peasant farmer, who lives in Maiduguri. The child was apparently well until one week ago the mother observed protrusion around the Umblical region associated with pain, vomiting and persist cry. The situation was asymptomatic as he had the para Umblical Hernia more than 14 months ago until now, he was presented to UMD Medical Clinic for treatment. Mustapha likes playing with toys. Presently the father is jobless as he couldn't have access to his farmland hence goes out on casual labour as the occasion demands. He is living in a house rented by his elder brother worth 80,000 naira per annum, the house contains 3 rooms which he occupies with his family, he has 6 children.
Medical history
Mustapha had a surgery on the 1st of May, and was discharged on the 6th of May.
Prognosis
The patient was presented to our facility with the complaints of bulging around the Umbilical region, associated with colicky abdominal pain especially when obstructed. Herrnioraphy is needed. If the hole is large enough, it can lead to tissue death, causing a life-threatening situation.
