Calvince was diagnosed with Malaria and Pneumonia. Malaria is a potentially life-threatening infectious disease caused by parasites transmitted to humans through the bite of infected female mosquitoes. The infection causes recurrent cycles of symptoms, including high fever, chills, fatigue, and, in severe cases, organ damage or failure.This stage of the disease is defined by the evidence of vital organ dysfunction. Pneumonia develops when the defensive mechanisms within the lung become overwhelmed by a pathogen which has been either inhaled or aspirated. It is associated with a high mortality rate and significant morbidity. Severe pneumonia is frequently a multisystem disease and patients will often present with multiple organ failure.

Background
Calvince, an orphan, currently resides with his aunt. He enjoys playing football and immersing himself in storybooks. Described as disciplined by his aunt, Calvince willingly lends a hand with household chores. Despite his aspirations to pursue a career in medicine and become a doctor, financial constraints prevented him from attending high school. However, he now considers training as a vehicle mechanic to repair large vehicles. Unfortunately, Calvince's health has been declining over the past three days. He complains of a productive cough accompanied by chest pain, along with a throbbing headache that has worsened recently.
Medical history
Calvince reported to the hospital with complains of headache, joint pain and hotness of the body. On examination, he was ill looking and a little pale. He was also febrile. After the examination, he was sent to the laboratory for further tests and was later admitted in the in-patient department for further medication and treatment. He stayed in the hospital for 4 days, undergoing treatment and was discharged on oral medication. He progressed well to complete healing.
Prognosis
Malaria should be treated promptly with the use of antimalarial drugs. If left untreated, it can lead to severe complications and even death. It can result in organ failure, severe anemia, neurological issues, and in some cases, prove fatal, making early diagnosis and treatment crucial for preventing these life-threatening consequences. Pneumonia should be treated with antibiotics. If left untreated, pneumonia may lead to the permanent lung damage, respiratory failure, septicaemia (infection entering blood stream and causing sepsis), pleural effusion (accumulation of fluid in the space between the lung and chest wall, which can make breathing difficult), and other life-threatening complications.
