Wena is the youngest of five children in his family and has not yet started school. He enjoys playing football with his friends. By the time he was brought to the hospital, he had experienced four episodes of vomiting and was also passing loose stools. He appeared quite ill and dehydrated.

A follow-up visit was done to check on Andrew’s condition after treatment, which included laboratory tests. It was confirmed that he is now well and has fully recovered. Andrew had initially come to the hospital with vomiting, diarrhea, fever, cough, and a runny nose. Tests showed a malaria infection and hookworm presence. He was treated with malaria medication, fluids for dehydration, antibiotics, painkillers, and supplements to help with recovery. He was also given anthelmintic medication to destroy the parasitic worms. After treatment and rest, the patient’s health improved, and they are now doing well.

Malaria should be treated promptly with the use of antimalarial drugs. If left untreated, it can lead to severe complications and even death. It can result in organ failure, severe anemia, neurological issues, and in some cases, prove fatal, making early diagnosis and treatment crucial for preventing these life-threatening consequences. If left untreated or if the immune system is weakened, the Pharyngitis infection can sometimes spread to other parts of the respiratory tract, causing conditions like bronchitis or pneumonia. Untreated strep throat can lead also to many potential complications. Bacterial pharyngitis, specifically strep throat, is typically treated with antibiotics, such as penicillin or amoxicillin.
