Oke is the eldest child in a family of five from an economically disadvantaged background. Due to financial constraints exacerbated by the country's ongoing economic issues, his family cannot afford their own housing. Consequently, Oke and his siblings now live with their grandmother in another settlement. Oke is compassionate, particularly towards the elderly, and aspires to be a teacher when he grows up. Six months ago, a swelling in Oke's right scrotum was noticed. According to his grandmother, attempts to treat it with local herbs were ineffective. Upon medical evaluation, Oke was diagnosed with a right hydrocele.

David underwent hydrocelectomy for the treatment of a hydrocele. The surgery was successful with an excellent prognosis. He has since been discharged and is now home, living a healthier and better quality of life.

The persistent presence of a hydrocele can cause ongoing discomfort, heaviness, or a feeling of fullness in the scrotum. Although hydroceles are not typically associated with infections, untreated ones may become prone to infections, which can result in pain and complications. Larger hydroceles can interfere with activities like walking or participating in sports due to the added weight and size of the swollen scrotum. Surgical removal of the hydrocele sac is the most effective and permanent treatment for hydrocele. It is typically performed as an outpatient procedure under local or general anesthesia. The surgeon makes a small incision in the scrotum, drains the fluid, and removes the sac.
