Ali K., 19

Ali is a nineteen-year-old student from a low-income family who is outgoing and enjoys playing tennis. He aspires to become a civil servant in the future. He had been in good health until about two weeks ago when he began experiencing pain in his right side, painful urination (dysuria), and lower abdominal pain. After seeking medical attention, he was diagnosed with a right kidney stone. Unfortunately, his family cannot afford the cost of the necessary surgery, but he has been prescribed various medications to manage the pain.

Ali is a 19 year old student from poor family, who is extroverted and likes praying tennis. He dreams to become a civil servant in the future. He was apparently when till about 2 weeks ago when he developed right loin pain, (pain urinating)dysuria and lower abdominal. He presented to a facility where he was evaluated by examination and investigations and diagnosed to have right kidney stone but the family does not have enough money to pay for surgery. However, he was placed on various medications for the relief of pain. He recently presented to our facility and same diagnosis of Right Kidney was made, he requires surgery to remove the stone (Right nephrolithotomy) and his case has been approved by HELPSTER CHARITY. Consequently, he underwent a successful surgery on 31st March,2024 and was discharged on 5th April,2024. Now patient is feeling better because the stone has been removed, no pain nor discomfort.

Larger stones might require more extensive treatment like using sound waves to break up the stone (lithotripsy), surgery to remove very large stones, or using a scope passed through the bladder to remove smaller stones. Kidney stones can cause excruciating pain as they move through the urinary tract. If left untreated, the stone may continue to pass or become lodged in a position that causes persistent, severe pain.
