Hafsat M., 4

Hafsat is a four-year-old child of Alhaji Mohammed and is the sixth child among seven siblings. At home, she is affectionately called Innah and loves playing with her neighbor's child. Hafsat is jovial and shows great promise for the future. Five days before coming to our facility, she was well until she developed fever, headache, and skin rashes, predominantly on her face, which left white, irritating spots. Due to financial constraints, her parents were initially unable to take her to the hospital until they learned about Helpster.

Hafsat Mohammed had been feeling increasingly unwell with fever, body aches, and a weakness. After days of discomfort, her parent took her Nakowa Specialists Hospital, where doctors diagnosed her with malaria, enteric fever, and dermatitis. Her treatment began with antimalarial medication, which quickly reduced her fever and other symptoms. For enteric fever, she received intravenous antibiotics, and her condition improved gradually. The dermatitis was treated, relieving her skin irritation within a few days.

Malaria should be treated promptly with the use of antimalarial drugs. If left untreated, it can lead to severe complications and even death. It can result in organ failure, severe anemia, neurological issues, and in some cases, prove fatal, making early diagnosis and treatment crucial for preventing these life-threatening consequences. Topical corticosteroid creams or ointments are often prescribed to reduce inflammation and relieve itching associated with dermatitis. These medications help to suppress the immune response and alleviate symptoms.
