Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?

When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

It is a common condition that usually begins in childhood; however, anyone can get the disease at any age. Colitis refers to inflammation of the inner lining of the colon, which is a part of the large intestine. It's a condition that can cause discomfort and various digestive issues. Symptoms of colitis can vary depending on the type but often include abdominal pain and cramping, diarrhea (which may be bloody), an urgent need to defecate, and weight loss.

Background

Al-Amin, a nine-year-old boy, resides with his parents in Fori, Fori Ward. He attends school, a government-owned institution, where he is currently in Primary 5. As the eleventh child of his mother, Al-Amin dreams of becoming a doctor in the future. Around a year ago, Al-Amin developed a skin problem, for which they sought treatment at Mulai Hospital. Unfortunately, the skin infection persisted untreated due to financial constraints and their status as internally displaced persons, until Al-Amin's mother learned about Helpster from a neighbor. Upon presentation at the facility, Al-Amin was reported to have developed diarrhea and skin rashes about a week ago. Upon examination, he was diagnosed with Dermatitis and Colitis.

Medical history

Al-Amin had been struggling with the dual challenges of dermatitis, which left his skin irritated and inflamed, and colitis, causing severe digestive discomfort and fatigue. In need of medical care, he sought treatment at Nakowa Specialist Hospital, where a team of skilled doctors provided him with a personalized treatment plan, including medication and dietary changes. However, the financial burden of the treatment was a concern until Helpster Charity stepped in to cover the medical expenses. With their support, Al-Amin followed his treatment diligently, and over time, his skin cleared and his colitis symptoms significantly improved. Grateful for the care he received, Al-Amin emerged stronger, determined to pay forward the kindness that had been shown to him during his recovery journey.

Prognosis

Topical corticosteroid creams or ointments are often prescribed to reduce inflammation and relieve itching associated with dermatitis. These medications help to suppress the immune response and alleviate symptoms. Treatment may involve dietary changes, medication to reduce inflammation and manage symptoms, and in severe cases, surgery. For bacterial infections, antibiotics may be prescribed. Regular medical care is important, as some types of colitis can increase the risk of developing colon cancer.
